Mandalay Reserve is a small batch of wild Burmese oil from 2017 — not many bottles in total, and once they are gone they are gone. From the dipstick, it does not present the way vintage Burmese typically does. There is none of the classic dark earthiness, none of the milk-chocolate depth. Instead you get a sweet incense character, slightly floral but leaning more towards the incense side of the spectrum.
On the skin, the impression continues in that same direction. This is unmistakably Crassna, but it occupies a part of the Burmese map that the older earthy oils do not — a floral incense register, well balanced, free of the heavier notes that some wearers find difficult in vintage Burma.
We think of it as the bridge oil between traditional Burmese oud and the cleaner incense profiles found further east. If you have wanted to enjoy Burmese provenance but never quite warmed to the deeper earth-and-cocoa register of older examples, Mandalay Reserve is where we would point you. Stock is limited, and we have no plans to repeat this distillation.
